Piper and I Having a Little Fun

Image
Another old project. I really need to do something new soon, but this was a fun day.  I researched how to make fake wounds with stuff around the house, and got some great information. I used flour and vaseline to make the scar wax, and then dug into my daughter's makeup for the coloring. I used coffee grounds to make the scrape illusion. Here is the video I followed: Easy Scar Wax And here is our Mock Monstrosity: Looks pretty gnarly, doesn't it? Once again, Piper going all-out with her acting. Back with a new project very soon!

Infested!

New post, but old project. Last year my granddaughter Piper and I played a trick on my husband Chris (Piper's "Pap") based on a picture I saw online. Here is the picture: And here is my Mock Monstrosity: Piper really got into the spirit of the prank: Piper is not only my granddaughter, but my partner in crime! She has a love/hate relationship with horror, but she's always a good sport about it all. Until next time!

Two Great Tastes that Taste Great Together!

Last weekend my project was peanut butter cups, something I've never made before. While time consuming, they were pretty easy. The most difficult part was the dipping since I cut the peanut butter filling into Halloween shapes. The recipe only needed a few ingredients: My inspiration and the recipe, can be found at  Chocolate Peanut Butter Valentine's Hearts : My Mock Monstrosity: In case it's hard to tell, there is a pumpkin, a bat, and a ghost. Like I said, the shapes made dipping neatly and cleanly somewhat difficult. Miss Sadie had to inspect them: Since she couldn't have any, it was left to my family and me to deem them delicious. They tasted like a real Reese's cup, only fresher and tastier. I hope you like this post!

A Quick Little Story

Image
I wrote this story several years ago. It's fun and gruesome, and I hope you enjoy! The PSL Girls Chuck glared at the gaggle of girls waiting to order pumpkin spice lattes. They had been coming every day, wearing their Ugg boots and taking selfies with their cups, since August. In Texas .   They don’t care about the most important part of fall – Halloween. Chuck had tried making conversation with the girls as he swept floors or tidied up the milk and sugar counter. They would pretend to be interested in his descriptions of horror movies, then giggle together when his manager would scold him.   But today was Halloween, which meant that tomorrow, those stupid girls would be ordering peppermint mochas and wearing Santa hats, posting their stupid faces to Instagram.   Today, he would give them a Halloween scare they’d never forget.   Chuck ducked into the back and slipped a hockey mask over his face, the tiny eye slits making it difficult to find the...

From Barbie to Zombie

Image
I bought a Barbie styling head at Goodwill a couple weeks ago. I finally got to work on it this past week. For this project, I chose acrylic paints. I used a greenish-gray mixed with gray for the skin. I combined dark colors and a mustard yellow to transform the hair. I wanted the hair to look gross, but it actually looks like a glamour Barbie. Maybe Barbie can never look ugly.    I also used a blood splatter spray all over, which was a lot of fun.  My inspiration, which can be found at Walking Dead Barbies :   My Mock Monstrosity Before and After:   I hope you like it!

Introduction Post

In this blog, you'll find attempts I make at copying cool horror stuff I find online. Some will be easy, some will be hard. A lot of these I'll do alone, but my daughter Lauren and my husband Chris will help from time-to-time. If not at creating, then at testing (food and drink). My granddaughter Piper, who is eight years old, will help with non-adult projects sometimes. I hope you have as much fun checking these out as I will be making them! Another thing - sometimes I will post links to stories I have had published, mostly horror-adjacent. I'd love for you to read and let me know what you think.
